The XPS 500 overlay boards offer a simple solution to install underfloor heating into your home without lifting your floor. The panels can be placed directly onto an existing solid surface and are perfect for retrofit installations. The 20 mm thick boards are low profile and hold 16mm pipe in channels. These underfloor heating overlay boards have all the features of our standard XPS 400 boards and more. XPS overlay boards have improved durability crafted from high-quality XPS 500. Boards are designed to accommodate 16 mm pipe, with three channels for return pipes. Lightbulb-shaped 180° returns streamline installation while minimising the risk of pipe damage. UFH overlay boards are topped with 200-micron thick aluminium foil, facilitating swift heat-up times of as low as 30 minutes. Aluminium provides excellent heat distribution, ensuring that heat spreads evenly across the area of the board and the entire floor. The aluminium continues within the pipe channels to improve efficiency. The panels are secured with adhesive and can used with all floor coverings. These boards are fitted with 120 mm pipe centres and hold 26% more pipe compared to the 150mm XPS 400 Board. This results in a higher heat output which is always desirable. If the channels and turns are not visible, you can reveal them by walking on the surface. Once the material is laid down, walk over the areas where the turns are located. Applying pressure along the grooves will create visible indents. This involves cutting the boards with a saw and fixing them using glue. Attention to detail during installation is crucial to ensure proper fitting of the system.
